Canon PowerShot G12 Specs,Features and Price

The Canon PowerShot G12 is a serious camera aimed firmly at the well-off amateur or pro looking for a carry-everywhere compact. Building on the success of previous G-series models, for 2010 the G12 principally adds 720p HD video, stereo sound, High Dynamic Range shooting mode, and a DSLR-like front control dial.

The Canon PowerShot G12 is the 2010 version of Canon’s premium compact camera, aimed at the DSLR owner looking for a backup model or the enthusiast who wants DSLR functionality without the added size and weight. The new Canon G12 inherits most of the core features of its predecessor, the G11 - 10-megapixel CCD sensor, 2.8 inch vari-angle LCD screen, 5x, 28-140mm equivalent zoom lens, RAW image capture, optical viewfinder, 4.2fps burst mode, flash hotshoe, 1cm macro mode, ISO 80-3200 and full range of manual shooting modes. Brand new additions to the G12 include 720p HD video recording, a front control dial, hybrid image stabilisation system, multi-aspect shooting, High Dynamic Range mode, an electronic level, SDXC card compatibility and an optional Lens Filter Adapter. The Canon Powershot G12 is available in black priced at INR 31,995.00

Canon PowerShot G12 Features

Achieve Photographic Greatness
The new PowerShot G12 offers improved handling (2.8" vari-angle LCD with new front dial), greater levels of manual control, HS System and Hybrid IS – providing a powerful feature set capable of superb image quality in all shooting conditions. PowerShot G12 also supports HD movie with stereo sound recording.

HS SYSTEM
The HS SYSTEM comprises of a 10MP high-sensitivity sensor (back illuminated) and Canon's renowned DIGIC imaging processor allowing photographer to capture full resolution images with vivid colour reproduction and drastically reduced image noise even in tricky light conditions without tripod.

Hybrid IS (Image Stabilizer)
Canon's newly developed Hybrid IS technology optimally compensates for both angular camera shake (rotational) and shift camera shake (linear)
Sudden changes in camera angle can cause significant blur in images taken during standard shooting, whereas blur caused by shift-based shaking, when a camera moves parallel to the subject, is more pronounced in macro and other close-up photography.
Designed to improve stabilization performance at closer subject distances, and particularly for macro shooting which can be difficult for conventional image stabilization technologies. The Hybrid IS incorporates an angular velocity sensor that detects the extent of angular camera shake which is found in all previous optical image stabilizer mechanisms, as well as a new acceleration sensor that determines the amount of shift-based camera shake and moves the lens elements to compensate for both types of movement.

Tracking AF
Ideal for tracking movie subjects.

High Dynamic Range Mode
In scenes with great differences in contrast, by separately setting Shadow Correction and Dynamic Range Correction, the range of expression is expanded.

RAW mode
In RAW mode, images are recorded without modification and as the files are unprocessed, colours can be manipulated to precise requirements before converted to TIFF or JPEG.
To edit, use Canon's DPP image adjustment software.
The camera can also be set to allow the simultaneous recording of both RAW and JPEG images while shooting
